Metro: McGuinty Liberals the Clear Choice
http://metropoint.metro.lu/20070921_Toronto.pdf
Four are negative or somewhat negative toward Dalton McGuinty. The fifth is the Metro, a free daily newspaper partially owned by the Toronto Star.
For some reason, the Metro seemed determined to put a positive spin on the night's events. Not only is their front page clearly pro-Liberal, but their main story is very soft on McGuinty.
Progress made: McGuinty
However, a closer look reveals the truth.
At the top of the front page of this daily Toronto newspaper, we see, in much smaller print, the words “ADVERTISEMENT” and, at the bottom of the page, in even smaller print, the phrase “Authorized by the CFO for the Ontario Liberal Party“.
Yes, folks, Dalton McGuinty and the Ontario Liberals BOUGHT the front page of a daily newspaper in the largest city in Canada!
What's worse is that the newspaper allowed it!
A further thought: This must have been planned long before the leaders debate on Thursday night. Design, printing, financial arrangements, etc. McGuinty must have known, before the debate, that he was going to get nailed, big-time, so this was his attempt to counteract what he already knew would be negative headlines from the major papers.
So folks, if you're ever reading the Metro, remember that the Liberal Party of Ontario is not only a contributing columnist, but appears to be the editor as well.
The Metro newspaper is available in six city-specific editions:
Calgary
Edmonton
Montreal
Ottawa
Toronto
Vancouver
My suggestion – don't bother picking it up.

The Metro must have really had to work for the tax payers dollars they recieved to put a positive spin on Dolton McLiar! I had to make popcorn while watching the debate.. played like a great Jackie Chan movie he he he..
At one point I wasn't sure if McCreepy was going to cry or pee his pants?? :)
I say, ding goes the bell.. declare looooooserrrrrrrrr Dalton McGuinty and the whole Fiberal Party of Ontario! See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya.. I hope they don't get enough seats to make party status on Oct 10! Now that would be a celebration!!
Ha ha ha it's kind of sad when you have to pay for it…
When will the Fibs learn that (my) money can't buy them love?
We were killing ourselves laughing at the campaign office today – for a number of reasons, including this one.
