New Liskeard–Progressive Conservative candidate Doug Shearer, a retired OPP Superintendent, was attacked yesterday by a Labrador retriever in his riding of Timiskaming-Cochrane.
We are told he was out canvassing at the time. Apparently, charges will be laid against the owner of the Lab.
We await further details and will post information as it becomes available.
I would like to know whether this candidate is opposed or in favour of BSL? What happened to him is so clearly an example of the ineffectiveness of BSL in Ontario. Of course if he favours BSL, I only wish many more dog bites on him.
I'm sorry about the attack, but A-HAAAA!!! It wasn't a pitbull or one of the recognized “dangerous breeds”. This should remind us that ANY dog will attack a stranger. Give up the insanity of banning select breeds. It isn't the specific breeds that bite.
If it had been a chihuahua, or yorkie, or poodle, what then? They still have teeth, and as far as I'm concerned, are more quick to bite than rotweillers, pitbulls, german shepards, dobermen or other named breeds.

The Lab was doing its job…protecting the property… Besides, my lab is a good judge of character, he knows good people and bad people.
