In my estimation, to see one quote by an animal rights group in a main stream media story is one too many. Now I realize I am super sensitive, and can spot a reference a mile (or in Canada a kilometre) away. However, I am very concerned the unsuspecting masses may believe, or worse, donate dollars to these types of groups.
I was watching the CTV National News last night and there was a story about a meat recall in the US. The clip (click on the video to the right, warning: graphic content) of a slaughterhouse in Chino, CA showed horrible scenes. I am the first to stand up for defenceless animals. I certainly encourage investigation into ALL suspected abuse situations. When watching this clip, as I have noticed in all other similar clips taken by undercover AR sleuths, there is something familiar about them. I can't quite put my finger on what it is that I see, but I always know when I am watching an AR clip. Sure enough, the video run by CTV had HSUS listed as the group who supplied the tape.
What ticks me off more than anything is the fact that such investigations should be conducted by the ASPCA or the police. The HSUS has no business sticking their nose anywhere. They are NOT an animal welfare organization. In fact the HSUS and PETA are polar opposites to any organization striving for the well being of animals.
The point the main stream media do not get (yet) is that AR groups kill animals. They back breed specific legislation and mandatory spay and neuter legislation. In a quote from the president of PETA, Ingrid Newkirk, “Pet ownership is an absolutely abysmal situation brought about by human manipulation.”
Decide for yourself.. the writing is on the wall. The campaign has been significantly ramped up but it is only a matter of time until people wake up. I just hope it isn't too late.
