On Sunday there was a high profile dog attack in Surrey, BC. Here is a link to the story.
Another typical, owner negligent, dogs on the loose in a playground. Typical from the standpoint of 'pit bull' story, media hysteria, naming a non existent breed of dog.
Another unfortunate child gets bitten by dogs and the irresponsible owner is 100% at fault! Not that the comments and reporting would lead you to believe that statement.
I particularly like this statement from the person who came to the aid of the child with a baseball bat:
Slezak, who owns a dog, said pit bulls can be dangerous.
“You can raise them to be kind and loving with a child, and one day they'll just snap,” he said.
“Pit bulls should be muzzled when they are outside of the home.”
Well, I commend Slezak in helping the child, who needed someone to help him fend off the dogs, but an authority on dog genetics and behaviour he isn't. In fact I can pretty much bet my life on that after reading his typical myth laden statements. Simply being a 'dog owner' as stated in the article hardly makes one an expert on dogs. I'll bet he thinks all Muslims are terrorists too..
The bad news and the reason I am writing a story about this, is BC is now being asked by the media if a 'pit bull' ban “like Ontario's” is in order? Remember how things went down in Ontario? It all started with a high profile dog attack in downtown Toronto. The next thing you know, Bryant was shooting his mouth off with his now famed “banned, banned, banned” speech!
Here is a story from today's newspaper in Vancouver. The article is titled; “It's time for BC to ban pit bulls.”
Is anyone else sick of this crap or is it just me?
Beware British Columbia! You best be getting organized.
I hope every dog owner in Canada realizes the magnitude of our legal challenge here in Ontario. Let me correct that, I hope every dog owner in North America or worldwide realizes the magnitude. We could sure use a little help. We are not only challenging Ontario for our own province but the precedence this will set for others who will fall in behind us or in the meantime will benefit from a win!
So you don't own a targeted or threatened breed. There is no such thing as a non threatened breed or dog. Dog ownership is threatened, period. Our friendly AR groups are doing their best to see to that. By the way, Caveat has an article on PETA's most recent death toll.
Come join in the fun everyone. We need your financial help to overturn the ban here in Ontariostan so the suffering here doesn't spread.
Time for Canadians to rally and donate to Banned Aid – before it's too late. Ten bucks, twenty bucks, it all adds up.
I haven't read the editorial yet, can't face that nonsense today.
Many times I have thought about moving out of this oppressive province, but I have made the decision to stick with it and fight to the bitter end.
It really made me think when I read the articles coming from BC. I know there have been many many dog owners and banned dog owners move to BC to simply get the hell out of Ontario. Many of them I know personally. I can imagine the sinking feeling of going through their minds. It is like a bad B rated horror flick. You can run, but you can't hide.
I really have no idea where people's heads are at? I have no idea how anyone could possibly think banning ANYTHING could be successful?
I want to move to another planet. This one has gone mental!
